The Switch

"The Switch" is like a romantic comedy, except better because it gives you everything you want: romance and comedy with a story and characters. They buck the trend to make the romantic elements absurd and instead shower us with comedy and very little sap.

Jennifer Aniston is just a cute girl that the audience can accept as a character, but Jason Bateman is everything you want in a leading man. Very good looking but not in a typical way, plays up neurotic with aplomb, and is hilarious all the way through. We easily fall in love with him from beginning to end.

Genre - Romantic, Comedy
Casts - Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman
Director - Josh Gordon, Will Speck

MOVIES TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Previously, I listed the movies that I've watched in the cinema or at home. Some of the movies are not shown in the cinema, maybe because they are not box-office movies. But some of them are really good. I actually spent a lot on dvds, on the movies that are not shown in the cinema.
I noticed that a lot of people are downloading movies from the internet, and I decided to follow the trend. Besides, streamyx is having an awesome promotion for its 1MB broadband and I decided to take it.

I will be posting movies that I look forward to, movies I watched and not forgetting, some old movies which are my favourites.

So, no more buying dvds!

Nights in Rodanthe

I have to admit that the movies that I will watch depends on who the actors/ actresses are. I always like Richard Gere movies especially when he is partnered with Diane Lane. This movie is another adaptation by Nicholas Sparks' novel.

Two unhappy people's lives become entwined when they have a life changing romance. Adrienne is a woman who is trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage or not. Her life changes when Paul, a doctor who is travelling to reconcile with his estranged son, checks into an inn in a North Carolina beach town where she is staying.

It is beautifully shot with a romantic setting and lots of quiet scenes. The house on the beach is called 'Serendipity'. Some people might think the movie is corny, but I like it!

Genre - Drama, romance
Casts - Richard Gere, Diane Lane
Director - George C.Wolfe

Dear John

Special Forces Army Sergeant, John Tyree is home on a two-week leave from Germany. He meets Savannah Curtis, after he dives into the ocean to retrieve Savannah's purse that had fallen off the pier. John is smitten by Savannah and falls in love at first sight. Savannah is a college student at the University of North Carolina. Along the way, a budding romance occurs, and Savannah falls deeply in love with John.

As she was about to go back to college, she promises to write John overseas during the next 12-month until he returns to her after completing his enlistment. Their love is put to test when John re-enlists after the 9/11 attack.

The movie is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. If you enjoy Sparks' novels, you might enjoy the movie. I haven't read the book, but after watching, I just might want to find the book and read it.

Genre - Drama, romance
Casts - Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfriend

Marley and Me

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?" JOHN GROGAN

An ambitious young reporter, John Grogan, and his wife, Jenny, also a reporter, move to Florida, buy a house and adopt a Labrador puppy they named Marley. Marley quickly becomes a rollicking force of nature in their lives.

Marley turns out to be more of a hindrance than a blessing as he grows older. After a while, John and Jenny decide to have a family, but not first going through some grim realities of life. They learn the responsibilities of having a family by first raising Marley the pup into adulthood and then into old age.
This movie certainly teaches us one thing, the importance of family, responsibility, dealing with issues such as death and most importantly about love. If you are into family-oriented, sentimental type of genre, the movie is definitely for you. It is a heartwarming experience.

Genre - Comedy, drama, family
Casts - Owen Wilson, Jennifer Anniston
Director - David Frankel
